This policy explains how Fixels (“we”, “us”, “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies (such as browser local storage) on our website. We believe in being transparent: no hidden trackers and no confusing jargon.
For more information on how we handle your personal data and your rights under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations), please read our Privacy Policy.
1. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file that gets downloaded to your device (computer, tablet, or phone) when you visit a website. It allows the website to recognise your device and store some information about your preferences or past actions. We also use a similar technology called browser local storage to remember your cookie choice. Throughout this policy, “cookies” refers to both cookies and these similar technologies.
2. How we use cookies
We use cookies for three main reasons:
- Essentials: To make the website work. For example, storing your cookie preferences so we do not ask you again, and keeping clients signed in to our client portal.
- Analytics: To understand how people use our site (for example, which pages are most popular). This helps us improve the experience. We do not use this data to identify you personally. These cookies are only set with your consent.
- Advertising & Remarketing: If you give us permission, we use Google’s tools to see which of our ads are working and to show you relevant ads for our services after you leave our site. These cookies are only set with your consent.
3. The cookies we set
Analytics and advertising cookies are only set after you click “That’s Fine” on our cookie banner. Until you give consent, no analytics or advertising cookies are placed on your device. Below is a full list of the cookies and similar technologies we use:
| Cookie Name | Category | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| fixels-cookie-consent | Strictly Necessary | Fixels (browser local storage, not a cookie) | Stores your cookie consent choice so we do not ask again on every visit. This is required to honour your preference and is not used for tracking. | Until you clear your browser storage |
| __Secure-fixels.session_token | Strictly Necessary | Fixels (client portal only) | Keeps you signed in to the client portal. Only set when a client signs in, and removed when they sign out. | 90 days from your last visit to the portal |
| _ga | Performance / Analytics | Google Analytics | Distinguishes unique users by assigning a randomly generated number. All data is aggregated and anonymous. | 2 years |
| _ga_ZQ77X95LYP | Performance / Analytics | Google Analytics | Used by Google Analytics 4 to persist session state. All data is aggregated and not used to identify you personally. | 2 years |
| _gcl_au | Targeting / Advertising | Google Ads | Used to track ad conversions and measure campaign effectiveness. Also enables Google Signals, which temporarily links your visit to your Google account (if signed in) to provide us with anonymous demographic data and show you relevant ads. You can opt out via your Google Ad Centre. | 3 months |
The analytics and advertising cookies above are set by Google. When set, the information collected may be processed by Google as a third party. You can read how Google uses this information in the Google Privacy Policy and in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
We also count visits with Vercel Web Analytics and measure how quickly pages load with Vercel Speed Insights, from our hosting provider. Neither sets cookies or stores anything on your device, which is why they are not in the table above. We only see totals, never who you are. Our Privacy Policy has more on both.
4. Managing your preferences
Under UK law, it must be as easy to withdraw your consent as it was to give it. You can review or change your cookie choice at any time by clicking the button below. You can return to this page whenever you like using the “Cookies” link in the footer of every page.
You can also disable cookies entirely through your browser settings. However, please note that some parts of our website might not work properly if you do so.
